Hello and welcome to Alex’s Blog,
There is a fantastic charity called The Joshua Tree, which supports families affected by childhood cancer. They provide practical and emotional support to children and their families at diagnosis and beyond.
The Joshua Tree is based very near to J&S HQ near Northwich in Cheshire and when we heard about all their hard work for kids (and families) affected by cancer we really wanted to do something to help. We will be raising money for them on two bike nights based at our Oakmere store (for more details watch this space!) this summer as well as organising some of our supported riders to meet some bike-mad kids but we wanted to also make a difference with all of our 30 stores nationwide.
We spoke to the The Joshua Tree to see which way we could help using our 30 stores and heard about their Costa Coffee voucher initiative.
“We are reaching out for donations of Costa Coffee vouchers. On average a family can visit hospital up to three times a week during their child’s treatment and taking a simple refreshment break at the coffee shop within the hospital can be a real benefit as well as a cost. A simple pleasure makes all the difference.”
We really wanted to make a difference to these families lives, even if its in a small way. A few coffees at Costa may not cost much in the grand scheme of things but on multiple trips to the hospital a month that all adds to the financial strain of having a child with cancer, let alone the emotional strain this has on a family.
If you would like to help you can donate here OR just drop off some Costa Coffee vouchers at ANY of our 30 stores nationwide, or a cash donation, and we will deliver these to the Joshua Tree so they can distribute them to families in need. Even the smallest amount will be appreciated. Thank you.
Until next time, Stay safe,
