Hello and welcome to Alex’s Blog. Motorcycle Live at the Birmingham NEC is as big as it gets in the UK for motorcycle manufacturers and has been running for 37 years in total (under different namesakes) I went to check it out to show you all the new bikes and clothing for 2019 – so you don’t have to go!
I have been many times over the years, in the heady days of it filling 5 or more halls, and as a child went around every stand seeing what free brochures I could get.
It was my favourite time of the year, it was all round the build up to Christmas with Bonfire night and I’d get free posters on the day and stick them up all around my room afterwards. I have since worked at the show many times and have always enjoyed it.
J&S Accessories Ltd aren’t exhibiting this year so for the first time in a LONG time I am going as just another customer!
Would Motorcycle Live 2018 live up to the hype?
£16 for parking welcomes you when you get there and at £25 a ticket to get in this ain’t cheap! To be fair seniors (over 65) only pay £15 and children under 10 are free, 11-16 only cost £1.
I could go minute by minute but I think that would be pretty boring without the pictures for context, so I will let the photos tell the story:
I took a LOT of pictures, click and they’ll open in another window.
Aside from J&S Accessories Ltd (the largest motorcycle clothing and accessories retailer in the UK) not being there this year there were two notable absences at Motorcycle Live 2018.
The Harley Davidson Livewire (the new electric Harley) and the BMW R1250RT. There has been quite a lot of buzz about these bikes so that’s why these absences were notable. Puzzling.
Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot to see and lots of stands really pulled the stops out (special mention to Arc for their interactive and futuristic stand as well as CCM for having an actual Spitfire on their stand…and I don’t mean a Triumph one!!
All in all, a fun experience, but worth £41 plus petrol? I’m not sure.
Until next time, stay safe,
